I shot some test footage with my new Flip Ultra HD (8 gb storage -- 120 mins. of footage). As you can see, the clarity is very nice. The movement when panning is slightly choppy but it's a camera about the size of an iPhone (thicker and heavier, of course) so you can't expect everything. Here's the test shot, on the beach in Morro Bay, California, USA...

Looks pretty good, huh? Check the brightness of the whites on the birds, the clarity of the rock and the fog, and colors of the parked cars. And the sound is GREAT. (but omni-directional, so picks up all noise around the unit)
As others have said the design of the usb arm is a big pain in the ass, it makes no sense at all. To plug it into my desktop pc, the charger in the wall socket, AND my laptop, I have to use something to prop it up and stabilize it, otherwise it won't line up straight and it looks like the weight of the unit will bend the usb arm. And the screen faces down, which is odd. Hopefully they'll fix this design issue with the next model. Also, for some reason my pc does not recognize the unit when it's plugged into the usb port, but my laptop does. But that may be just my machine.
I will use this camera primarily for first-person "how to" videos so it should work just fine for that application (I also bought the flip mini-tripod; tests so far look good, very stabile, although it doesn't wrap around things as easily as demo'd).
If you're looking to shoot a lot of moving shots, "action" shots then I'd probably say it's not ideal for you. Otherwise, it's pretty darn good and you can't beat HD video at this size and price. Not sure if video purists would say it's "true HD" but again, it's probably good enough for 99% of casual camcorder users.Get more detail about Flip UltraHD Camcorder, 120 Minutes (Black).
