Flip UltraHD Camcorder, 120 Minutes (Black) Decide Now

I'm pretty underwhelmed by this camera. By far, the biggest problem is lack of image stabilization. I knew about this before I bought it, but it's way worse than I expected. Even when trying to hold the camera as still as possible, the video still comes out very jittery. There's nothing you can really do. Unless the camera is sitting still on something, it's going to shake like crazy. In my mind, it's so bad it's almost unusable because I'd rather not be forced to watch a video that's so shaky. At this point I'm going to buy a cheap tripod. But that's not really what I had in mind when I bought this camera. I want something I can carry around.

Next problem is the "HD-ness" of the video. If you're outside on a sunny day then yes, the video is what I'd describe as HD. In fact, I'm surprised how great outdoor, sunny-day video is (shakiness notwithstanding). Move inside, however, or wait until the sun goes down, and picture quality degrades quickly. It's grainy and there's a lot of artifacting.

There are some positives. I'm surprised how good the sound is. The screen is nice. The camera is easy to use. None of that stuff matters, though, if the ultimate result is crappy video no one wants to watch. I understand this is a "budget" option as far as HD camcorders go. Still, I'm thinking we should have saved our money until we could afford something that's actually worth owning.

I'm surprised how many positive reviews there are for this. For me, it was either going to be a 5-star product or a 1-star product. Either it would be "good enough" considering its price, or it would not be worth anything because of how disappointing the results are. In other words, if this camera cost a penny it still wouldn't be worth owning just because of how shaky the video is.

I would NOT recommend this camera to anyone.Get more detail about Flip UltraHD Camcorder, 120 Minutes (Black).
